In the spring of 1999, MF’s French range was updated with the introduction of the 6200 series. All of the four‐cylinder models now used turbocharged 1000‐series Perkins engines. With the exception of the smallest one, the engines were fitted with wastegate turbos, and the most powerful four‐cylinder, the 6265 (105 hp), featured an intercooler plus a different turbocharger, injection pump, and nozzles.
The transmission remained the familiar Dynashift Plus with a four-speed creeper gear. What was new was a conveniently positioned creeper control under the steering wheel, combined with a hand-operated clutch. The basic hydraulic system was unchanged, but as an option there was a closed-center hydraulic system offering 80/110 L/min, which in Finland was even promoted free of charge. All of the four-cylinder models had a lift capacity of 5,850 kg. The 6255 and 6265 also received a more robust front axle and came standard with three hydraulic control valves.
The cab was completely new and the controls were redesigned: for example, the draft‐control buttons were now built into the armrest. The noise level inside remained at 75 dB, the same as in the 3000 series models two generations earlier.
For the 2001 model year, automatic selection of the creeper speed step when changing the main gear became standard. As an optional upgrade, this could be expanded into full creeper‐gear automation (AutoDrive), with two shift programs. Another new option was joystick control of the hydraulic valves, mounted in the armrest. The system also recorded flow rates and timing sequences in memory.
