Info

The first Steyr tractor was the 180, introduced in 1947. The tractor, which had a modern appearance, was powered by a 2-cylinder pre-chamber diesel engine with an output of 26 hp. The engine was part of the load-bearing structure. The transmission, rear axle, and brakes utilized parts from Steyr's trucks. The wide green hood also resembled the shapes of Steyr trucks. There were 5+1 gears. The front axle consisted of two transverse leaf springs. Hydraulics became an optional extra in 1950.

In 1953, the updated 180a was introduced. The wheelbase was longer, the tires larger, and a slower gear had been added to the transmission. The hood was slightly narrowed to improve visibility.

The red 182 from 1956 was marketed as an export model, although it was also available in Austria. It had 36 hp SAE (approximately 32 hp DIN). The tires were larger, and a dual clutch was standard.

In 1959, the lower-profile parallel models N180a and N182 were introduced alongside the earlier models.

The last development step was the 182a/N 182a in 1958. Its innovation was a 2-speed 8+4 transmission. The dual clutch was now only available as an optional extra.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
