In 1958 the Super series was replaced by three‐digit models. The yellow and red accents were changed to white and the grille was redesigned. The engines received even more power. On the 660 the cylinder bore was increased. On the 770 and 880 the maximum engine speed was raised and some internal components were changed. The 950 replaced the earlier Super 99 in its Waukesha‐engined version, and the 990 was fitted with a GM engine. The 995 was otherwise identical to the 990, but featured an Allison torque converter that allowed shifting without using the clutch, although it introduced a significant power loss. The transmissions were upgraded to helical‐gear designs.

All models shared features such as a 12‐volt electrical system with key start, a separate clutch for the power take-off (PTO) with 540 and 1000 rpm options, dual‐disc brakes, and a weight‐transfer system which, according to the advertising, “outperformed nearly all competitors’ solutions.” There still was no separate hydraulically lifted drawbar, but a quick‐change assembly containing a drawbar could be substituted for the draft arms. Optional equipment included power steering and a mechanical Power Booster high-low range. Alongside the Row Crop models, the lineup now offered Wheatland versions instead of the Standard models.

The Oliver 990 served as the basis for the Massey Ferguson 98.
